Description

Signed book: Journal of the Senate of the United States of America, Being the First Session of the Twenty-First Congress of the United States of America, at the City of Washington, December 7, 1829. First edition. Washington, DC: Duff Green, 1829. Leatherbound hardcover, 6 x 9.25, 577 pages. Signed inside on the title page, and signed again on the front pastedown. This book originates from Polk's personal library and was deaccessioned from the Tennessee Historical Society. Autographic condition: very good to fine, with overall foxing to front pastedown and to the signed page. Book condition: G+/None, with moderate foxing throughout, split front hinge, binding somewhat loose, major scuffing and wear to covers, and multiple Tennessee State Library stamps to pages. Accompanied by a custom-made clamshell case and the deaccession letter from the Tennessee Historical Society.
