Description

African-American politician (1841-1898) who represented Mississippi as a Republican in the US Senate. Partly-printed DS, signed “B. K. Bruce,” two pages, 8.5 x 14, August 4, 1890. Bill of sale from Thomas F. Paxton to Thomas S. Paxton, for the stock and fixtures of a market to include a meat counter and scales, meat rack, butcher's implements, showcases, cake stand, tobacco cutter, shelving, and "the stock of groceries, meats, and vegetables." Signed on the docketing panel in ink, "B. K. Bruce," as recorder of deeds. In very good to fine condition, with some separation along folds.
