TLS signed “Winston S. Churchill,” one page, 7.5 x 9.5, Hyde Park Gate letterhead, March 30, 1950. Letter to editor and publisher Desmond Flower, in full: "Thank you for your letter of March 23 and for telling me about the intricacies of publishing Volume III. I am sorry it is so much behind the American edition, but I quite understand the difficulties." In fine condition. Desmond Flower (1907-1997) was the longtime editor and director at London's Cassell & Co., a publishing house that released numerous collected speeches by Churchill, in addition to two of his most enduring works: the six-volume The Second World War, and the four-volume A History of the English-Speaking Peoples. The referenced "Volume III" is assuredly The Grand Alliance, the title of the third volume from The Second World War.
