ALS in French, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.25 x 7.75, July 22, 1900. Written from Paris, a letter to a friend and colleague, in full (translated): "Since you are so insistent, I am sending you the two photographs which I spoke to you about. They are dated on the back. But I am sending them to you with much trepidation, because I would be infinitely distressed if they were not returned. I beg you, have engravings made of them immediately, and return them to me at Medan, par Villenes, Seine et Oise, by registered mail. I shall not be happy until they are once again safe in my hands. I was born April 2, 1840." In fine condition, with a thin mounting strip along the back edge of the second page.
