American physicist (1910-1989) who won the 1956 Nobel Prize in Physics for his development of the transistor. Vintage matte-finish 10 x 7.75 photo of William Shockley posing in front of a microscope, signed in blue ballpoint, "W=Shockley." In very good to fine condition, with trimmed edges, and creasing to the right side. From the collection of Dr. Lawrence E. Miller.
