Description

Italian novelist and journalist (1907-1990) whose novels explored matters of modern sexuality, social alienation, and existentialism. He is perhaps best known for his debut novel Gli indifferenti, for the existential novel Il disprezzo (turned into Jean-Luc Godard's 1963 film Contempt), and for the anti-fascist novel Il Conformista (the basis for Bernardo Bertolucci's 1970 film The Conformist). Scarce glossy 7 x 9.5 profile photo of Moravia looking down from a balcony, signed and inscribed in the lower border in blue ballpoint, "Alla Galleria Libro cordialmente, Alberto Moravia.” Reverse bears a Bosio credit stamp. In very good condition, with scattered light creasing, overall scuffing, and light staining to the left edge.
