Letter to Bagit Gordon, in part: "I am grieved that any circumstances should have given that color to my conduct which caused you to think me unmindful of my duty, in…my Bond which you hold…The moment I received your letter I desired to place your credit $500 in the Branch Bank of Virginia at Fredericksburg and to write, as I now do to express for you my great respect."
