Birthday wishes for the 'Moon River' composer

TLS, one page, 6 x 9, personal letterhead, April 1994. Letter to "Hank," famed composer Henry Mancini, in part: "Happy Birthday, young fellow! I only wish I could say that I was looking forward to the celebration of my 70th. Talk about wishful thinking!…Hank, over the years we have been proud to know you. You have spent your life entertaining audiences and your success and longevity are a testimony to your extraordinary talent. In my long and full life, I have known a great many gifted individuals, but few can compare to you. Your music has become deeply rooted in our daily lives and culture and your legendary hits will undoubtedly survive the passage of time." Reagan adds a postscript: "Good luck with all those candles. Be thankful you're not yet my age—I bring along a fire extinguisher these days, just in case!" Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 12.25 x 15.5. In fine condition. Mancini sadly died from pancreatic cancer just two months later.
