Four items: a vintage glossy 3.5 x 5.5 photo of Burgess in a half-length pose, signed on the reverse in black ballpoint, "Greetings from your story friend, Thornton W. Burgess, at 86, Laughing Brook, Hampden, Mass."; and a group of three TLSs, each signed "Thornton W. Burgess," each one page, dated between 1961 and 1962, each addressed to Ken Brown. The earliest letter, January 28, 1961, in part: "I enclose a photograph made last May. I have nothing larger with me. These glossy prints will not take ink so I cannot autograph it across the face. I have autographed it on the back." The second, March 13, 1962, in part: "Early last year you wrote me a very delightful letter that I still have in my files of treasured tributes. At the time I resolved that if ever I should get to Arizona I would give myself the pleasure of thanking you in person, and for Peter Rabbit…I am now in Tucson. We plan to run up to Phoenix some day in the next two or three weeks and will stop in Mesa to give ourselves the pleasure of bringing you greetings." The third letter, April 19, 1962, in part: "I regret that after all we did not have a chance to get to see you in Phoenix." In overall very good to fine condition, with staple holes to the upper left corners.
