Description

"Both Betty and I had a very deep admiration and affection for Buddy"

ALS signed “Jerry,” one page, 6.25 x 8.5, personal letterhead, April 25, [1999]. Letter to Beverly Ricondo, the widow of actor Charles 'Buddy' Rogers, in full: "I am deeply grateful for your thoughtfulness with the heartfelt note about our beloved Buddy. As you know, both Betty and I had a very deep admiration and affection for Buddy. He was a very special person in every way. You should be extremely proud of his achievements and his devotion to you. I thank you for the gorgeous Hermes tie which I will proudly wear. You have our highest respect and gratitude. With my warmest best wishes." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, and by a photo of Ford posing with Buddy and Beverly at a reception.

Rogers was an American film actor and musician who, during the peak of his popularity in the late 1920s and early 1930s, was publicized as 'America's Boy Friend,' and for over four decades was married to actress Mary Pickford. His most-remembered performance in film was opposite Clara Bow in the 1927 Academy Award winning Wings, the first film ever honored as Best Picture. Rogers died in Rancho Mirage, California, in 1999 at the age of 94.
