President John F. Kennedy’s two golf balls personally owned and used: One golf ball is embossed in black “PRESIDENT KENNEDY”, “WILSON STAFF 1” on back, second ball is embossed “MR. PRESIDENT 3” and “JOHN F. KENNEDY 3”
Provenance: White House stationary from Melvin Carter’s widow stating that her husband Melvin had worked at the White House since the time of Herbert Hoover. Referencing these golf balls Mrs. Carter states, “It was owned and used by the President. He loved the game of golf and was an excellent golfer despite his bad back. He would often practice his putting and chipping on the South Lawn of the White House. M. O. Carter picked up the golf ball after the President finished his practice.” Includes two letters of provenance from Mrs. Carter.
