French educator and historian (1863-1937) who is best remembered as being the founder of the International Olympic Committee, and its second President. He is known as the father of the modern Olympic Games. Rare ALS in French, one page on the reverse of a 5.5 x 4 postal card, postmarked July 17, 1927. Untranslated letter extending his thanks for a friendly welcome to the committee and wishing success for the forthcoming 1928 Summer Olympics. Matted with a photo of a young Pierre de Coubertin to an overall size of 8.25 x 11.75. In fine condition.
