ALS signed “Louis Armstrong," and twice within the text as "Satchmo,” four pages on two adjoining sheets, 5.25 x 7.25, March 16, 1949. Written from the Hotel Flamingo in Las Vegas, a letter to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Thomson, in part: "I am writing you all these few lines, letting you know it was really a pleasure meeting the two of you at the Coliseum in New Orleans Mardi Gras night. My My—what a day. But I really did enjoy myself the whole day. Hollering & waving at everybody. That's why I couldn't talk that night after the parade. And that's the main reason why I did not sing your 'request' for Solitude—etc…it was very sportsmen like, for Tim & Steve, to have still appreciate everything Satchmo played, even though he did not sing their 2 songs. That just couldn't be helped…I am just now getting myself straightened out from that hectic day. But I loved every moment of it. Seeing all of those people beside seeing all of my old friends from years back, when I was just a child. What a memory—huh? Tee hee….Thanks a million for the trouble you both had to go through just to dig ol Satchmo. You both are real swell people." In fine condition.
