American soldier and politician (1823-1914) who fought in the United States Army in the Mexican-American War and in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. He later served as the 30th governor of Kentucky. Ink signature, "S. B. Buckner,” on an off-white 3.5 x 1.75 card affixed to a slightly larger sheet with pencil notations dating the signature to September 8, 1887. In fine condition, with light toning over most of the card, and a small glue stain to the top edge.
