Character actress (1890-1964) remembered for her role as Emma on The Andy Griffith Show. Rare ALS, two pages, 6 x 8, July 10, 1962. Letter to Bonnie Lou Ivers, in full: "Thank you so much for your very nice note asking for an autographed picture. This will be sent by special mail. First I must tell you your note was forward several times before it reached me and did so finally through my agent. Then I was called out of town for some time but I am finally getting to the place of answering. Do drop me another note and tell me more about yourself and how old you are, where you go to school now etc—I am in the big cinerama colored picture called 'The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm' which will open Aug. 11th. This I went to Germany to make and had a most wonderful trip. The country was so beautiful. Forgive me for this delay and please send me your autographed picture. Just a snapshot will do, but I would like to know you better." Meredith adds her full address after her signature. In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in her own hand. Meredith is rare in any form.
