Very high grade example of this 10.25 x 15 inch photo of both the American and Japanese teams during the famous Major League Baseball 1934 Tour of Japan. Headlined by Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig, the American League contingent of players—the National League refused to allow their players to attend—journeyed to Japan to play a series of exhibition games in several cities against a team of Japanese All-Stars—this Japanese All-Star team evolved to become the first professional Japanese team, the Yomiuri Giants, a team that still exists today. This photo depicts both All-Star teams as well as several dignitaries, with features facsimile signatures of all the players from both squads; Ruth is clearly observed in the back row next to manager Connie Mack. Grading EX/MT to NM condition with very light peripheral edge wear, noted only for accuracy. This is a superb relic from one of the most famous foreign tours of Major League Baseball players, headlined by the great Babe Ruth, which helped catapult professional baseball in Japan.
