Letter to a gentleman, in part: "I shall certainly read your article in the North American Review which we see regularly at the Athenaeum Club. To know the author makes a great difference in the interest with which I look at an article. I write to you on the last day of the old year and I wish you all manner of prosperity in the new one…P.S. When you have an opportunity read my 'Literature and Dogma'; in its effect on the public, it is the most important thing I have done." Matted beside a photocopy of the front, as well as a portrait, to an overall size of 12.5 x 14.75. In fine condition.
