Two versions of the limited edition birthday plate created by Castleton China for Dwight D. Eisenhower's first birthday in the White House on October 14, 1953, both with low serial numbers on the bottom. Both plates measure 10.75″ in diameter, and feature identical designs of the Pennsylvania Dutch symbol of intertwined doves signifying Love and Peace, with Eisenhower's golden facsimile signature below. One, distributed to attendees at the event, has a keystone-shaped backstamp (#27); the other, produced for sale to the general public in limited numbers, has a square-shaped backstamp (#17). In overall fine condition. From the collection of Brigadier General Robert L. Schulz, longtime military aide to Dwight D. Eisenhower.
