Official bronze inaugural medal from 1953 designed by Walker Hancock and struck by the Medallic Art Co., used as the base of a 6″ diameter silver bowl. The face features a profile portrait of Eisenhower in relief, and the reverse features a presidential eagle with raised text: "Inaugurated President of the United States of America, January 20, 1953." Also includes a bold ink signature, "Dwight D. Eisenhower," on an off-white 4 x 2.5 slip clipped from the close of a letter. In very good to fine condition, with tarnishing to the silver bowl. Includes some associated literature from the Medallic Art Co. about their inaugural medals. From the collection of Brigadier General Robert L. Schulz, longtime military aide to Dwight D. Eisenhower.
