Description

Impressive display honoring the STS-71 mission and the first Space Shuttle docking to the Russian space station Mir on June 29, 1995. The display contains the following flown or signed items: a 1.5 x 1.5 swatch of payload bay liner from Space Shuttle Atlantis flown on STS-71; a 1.5″ diameter medallion containing metal from a U.S. Space Shuttle and the Mir space station; a flown 3.75 x 7.5 banner for the Spaceflight Control Centre, which was carried to Mir aboard the STS-71 mission and then returned to Earth aboard Soyuz TM-21, signed in Cyrillic by Anatoly Solovyev and Nikolai Budarin; a commemorative cover signed by Robert Gibson and Bonnie Dunbar; and an STS-71/Mir Crew Exchange cover signed by Vladimir Dezhurov, Gennady Strekalov, Solovyev, and Budarin, with an autopen signature of Norman Thagard. The items are handsomely double-matted and framed with photos and an embroidered patch to an overall size of 29.5 x 31.75. In fine condition.
