Military officer (1842-1876) and Custer loyalist who was killed in action as captain of Company F at Little Bighorn. Ink signature as captain of the 7th Cavalry, "Geo. W. Yates,” on an off-white 3.5 x 2.25 slip clipped from the close of a document. In fine condition. Yates was killed during the Battle of the Little Bighorn and fell near Custer.
