Rare set of three original vintage photos of Vince Lombardi years before his tenure as the legendary head coach of the Green Bay Packers, including: a circa 1935 glossy 8 x 9.75 Fordham University publicity photo of Lombardi in his junior year as a right guard on the Fordham Rams football squad, with affixed caption on reverse offering a brief player description and biography, which reads: "Vincent T. Lombardi—Number 40—Junior Right guard. Age 22—Height 5 feet, 10 1/2 inches—Weight 188, Brooklyn, N.Y.—St. Francis Prep; Cathedral Prep. Vin was slated for regular action at guard last year, but was rendered hors-de-combat by an internal injury which has since been cured. Is set for a big year. Vinny is fast coming out of the line, and blocks with authority…Known to the boys as 'Butch'"; the second is a circa 1940s matte-finish 10 x 8 photo of the football team at St. Cecilia High School in Englewood, New Jersey, which depicts Lombardi, clad in sweats as an assistant coach, to the far right; and the third is a circa 1930s matte-finish 8 x 10 full-length photo of Lombardi posing handsomely in front of a doorway. In overall fine condition, with a few creases, and various wear to borders and edges. Each are individually encapsulated by PSA and certified as authentic "Type I" photographs.
