Description

Recognizing Curly Lambeau's undefeated 1929 season—the first NFL championship of the Green Bay Packers

Magnificent sterling silver trophy honoring the Green Bay Packers' first championship season in 1929, measuring 10.25″ tall and 9.75″ in diameter, engraved at center: "Coach Earl (Curly) Lambeau, National Football League Champions, 1929 Green Bay Packers, 12-0-1." The rim of the splendid cup boasts an intricate floral vine pattern design, with curved and grooved handles on either side. In fine condition, with just minor wear. Originally from the Duke Hott collection.

Earl 'Curly' Lambeau founded the Green Bay Packers in 1919, then led them as a player/coach to their first NFL championship a decade later—in those days, rather than playing a game, the champion was determined by win-loss percentage over the course of the whole season. The Packers won twelve of their thirteen match ups, the only blemish to their record coming in a tie against the Frankford Yellow Jackets. A victory celebration of 20,000 fans greeted the team upon their return to Green Bay after their final game in Chicago, which they won 25-0 to finish the year undefeated. This handsome memento, presented to recognize Coach Lambeau's historic unbeaten season, is deserving of a place in the finest collections.
