Description

First class saloon steward (1872-1949) aboard the Titanic who was rescued in lifeboat No. 13. Partly-printed manuscript DS, signed “Alex. J. Littlejohn,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, 12.25 x 18.75, November 2, 1901. An indenture between Ernest Fred Ball and Alexander James Littlejohn, in which the latter transfers leasehold of The Crown Inn in the parish of All Saints, Hastings in the county of Sussex for a term of 39 years for the annual sum of 99 pounds and 10 shillings. Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Littlejohn and other affiliated members. Document retains all original seals. In fine condition. Accompanied by the original plan for The Crown Inn dwelling houses and premises to be auctioned in four lots on June 29, 1859, and a first edition of Titanic: Waiting for Orders, hardcover with dust jacket, published by The Crescent Company in 1999, signed and inscribed on the half-title page in black felt tip by Philip Littlejohn, the grandson of Alexander Littlejohn.
