Two items: a TLS signed "John Glenn," one page, 8 x 10.75, United States Senate letterhead, January 23, 1975, in part: "The challenges facing America are obviously great, but with the support of persons like you I plan to concentrate my full efforts on bettering our nation's future. These past weeks have been eventful. In addition to hiring the nucleus of what I believe will be an excellent staff, I was seated on both the Senate Interior and Government Operations committees. These assignments will, I feel, place me in a position to maximize my input here, particularly in the energy area which is so critical to everything the United States does for the short and long term future"; and a glossy 6.5 x 4.5 photo of Glenn dining at Gregory's Penthouse Restaurant in Phoenix in 1983, displayed in a 9.25 x 7.25 mat, signed on that mat in ink, "John H. Glenn, Jr." In overall very good to fine condition, with a stain to the photo's mat, and creasing and staple holes to the top of the letter. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope for the letter, bearing a stamped free frank.
