Description

US Air Force officer (1910-1999), flight surgeon, physician, biophysicist, and pioneer in studying the effects of acceleration and deceleration forces on humans. His work on Project Manhigh pioneered many developments for the US space program. Three glossy photos signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint or black ink by John Stapp, "John P. Stapp, Col. USAF (MC) Retired," each approximately 8 x 10 and 10 x 8, with one photo of Stapp wearing his military uniform in front of a model of the 'Abrupt Decelerator Vehicle,' and two photos depicting him on his experimental sleds, with Stapp adding to one, "Sled run of 18 October 1950, 89.9 mph to a stop in 18 feet, Edwards Air Force Base (Muroc Lake) California, 2,000 ft research track." In overall very good to fine condition, with some light creasing, primarily to the corners.
