Free franked address panel, 5.5 x 3, addressed by Byron, “London, March ninth 1812, Mrs. Moore, Kilmainham Lodge, Dublin,” and franked in the lower left corner, “Byron.” In very good to fine condition, with light soiling and trimmed edges. This remarkable autograph dates to one day before the release of Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, Cantos I and II, which debuted on March 10, 1812. The first edition of five hundred quarto copies sold out in three days, and an octavo edition of 3,000 was on the market immediately after that. Byron is supposed to have said, 'I awoke one morning and found myself famous.'
