King of Sardinia from 1849 until 1861, when he assumed the title of King of Italy to become the first king of a united Italy since the 6th century (1820-1878). Partly-printed DS, in Italian, signed “Vittorio Emanuele,” one page, 10.75 x 16.75, October 13, 1854. Untranslated official document signed as King of Sardinia. The white paper seal affixed to the lower left remains fully intact. In very good to fine condition, with nearly complete separation along the central horizontal fold. Accompanied by an engraved portrait bearing a facsimile signature.
