Autograph endorsement as president, "B. O'C, Yes—fine—FDR," at the conclusion of a letter written by Charles Engelhard to Basil O'Connor, chairman of the Georgia Warm Springs Foundation's executive committee, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, January 14, 1941. Engelhard's letter, in part: "I fully realize that the Georgia Warm Springs Foundation should have its own laundry plant. I had the privilege to send to our Great President, last month at Christmas time, a check for $5,000.--, to be employed for the benefit of the Foundation, in accord with the President's wishes. Now, if the President should approve the proposed laundry plant, and designate the above mentioned sum for this purpose, I would be ready to add an additional $5,000.-- for this purpose in the course of this year, and I would pledge myself to send another $5,000.-- for the same purpose the beginning of next year, so that in all, $15,000.-- might be provided for the laundry plant." In fine condition, with scattered light creasing and a tear to the right edge.
