TLS signed “T. Roosevelt,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Metropolitan letterhead, September 13, 1917. Letter to William M. Robb in Hartford, in full: "I wish I could answer you definitely but it is not possible. I receive, not figuratively but literally, hundreds of letters asking me to give advice, or to point out the way in which service could be rendered. I have no influence with the Government and do not know what they wish; in addition to this there is each man's own personal equation to be considered. I regret I cannot be of help." In very good condition, with overall creasing, and a short tear to the top edge.
