Stationery envelope of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States, 6.25 x 3.5, addressed in Hayes's hand to "Col. H. G. Otis, Los Angeles, California, Introducing John C. DeWitt of Ohio," and signed in the return address area as the legion's commander-in-chief, "R. B. Hayes." In very good to fine condition, with light soiling, two folds, and the postage stamp clipped off. Hayes served as commander-in-chief of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States, a position he held from 1888-1893.
