ALS signed “T. Pickering,” one page, 8 x 10, May 7, 1795. Written from the War Office, a letter to Samuel Hodgdon, in full: "I send you herewith Major Craig's return of stores on hand April 1st & of those issued the preceding quarter. In his letter of the 1st instant he says that 'some cloathing is immediately wanted for all the troops'—meaning, I suppose, at Pittsburg, where the recruits from General Morgan's army were assembling, & to whom he must have had particular reference." In very good to fine condition, with a trimmed top edge, light toning, and a repaired area to the right of the signature. Accompanied by a color engraving bearing a preprinted facsimile signature.
