Great French composer and pianist (1822-1890) who won some official recognition as the nominated successor of Benoist as organ professor at the Conservatoire. Manuscript score for "L'Emir de Bengador" with a few small annotations by Franck, one page, 9.75 x 13.25, comprising the music and lyrics of the song for soprano and piano in G minor, penned in another hand. Near the bottom of the piece, Franck writes, "pp tris tendroment" and "pp ped." Matted and framed to an overall size of 14.75 x 18.5. In fine condition, with the score shifted from its mat, but easily fixed. L'Emir de Bengador, set to words by Joseph Mery, was one of the group of songs composed by Franck in the early 1840s. It was published in about 1844, in the key of F minor; otherwise this manuscript corresponds to the published version, except that it lacks the keyboard introduction.
