Typed poem by John Masefield entitled in his own hand, "Seaman's Prayer," one page, 8 x 10.25, signed at the conclusion by Masefield. The poem, in full: "Our lives are passed away from any land / In waters, in the hollow of Thy hand. / Our ways are found by sun and moon and star / But ever in Thy hand our fortunes are. / Thy dangers hem us in, of every kind, / The seas that shatter, and the fogs that blind. / The wind that heaps the sea; the rock; the shoal; / Collision and fire, those daunters of the soul. / Save us from these, yet if that may not be / Grant us the manhood fitting to Thy sea." In fine condition, with intersecting folds.
