Hezekiah Leroy Gordon Smith (1909-1967) was a popular American jazz violinist during the swing era who is best remembered for the song 'If You're a Viper.' Vintage glossy 8 x 10 publicity photo of Smith holding an electric violin and looking over his shoulder, signed and inscribed in blue ballpoint, "To Nils Hallstrom, Always the best for you, Stuff Smith.” Removably corner-mounted to a slightly larger display sheet. In very good to fine condition, with a small chip to the left edge, and the beginning of the inscription partially removed. Hallstrom was a notable music promoter and the editor of the European jazz magazine Estrad.
