Personal check, 6.25 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Casey Stengel, "Charles D. Stengel," payable to the famous Toots Shor Restaurant for $45.45, September 10, 1962. Stengel adds a memo, "(Mets & Cinn: Base Ball players)." In fine condition. A desirable check from the Mets' inaugural season, in which Stengel infamously led them to a 40-120 record; their September series against the Cincinnati Reds, in which New York won two of three games, was a bright spot as one of the few series they won that year.
