On August 23rd the Pirates were in San Francisco to wrap up a three game series; Clemente, who had been injured for much of the month, went 0-4 in a shutout loss. Clemente is sought-after in personal checks, and this example dates to his final season—just months before he died in a tragic plane crash while en route to deliver humanitarian aid to Nicaragua.
