Twice-signed Chicago National League Ball Club check, 8.5 x 3.75, filled out in type and signed by Veeck, "William L. Veeck," payable to William L. Veeck for $312.50, April 15, 1924. Endorsed on the reverse in fountain pen by Veeck. In very fine condition. The father of colorful MLB owner and executive Bill Veeck, William Veeck, Sr., was a Chicago-area sportswriter who was hired by Cubs owner William Wrigley, Jr. in 1917 to be the team's vice-president. After the Cubs won the National League pennant in 1918, Wrigley promoted him to be president of the club.
