American silent film actor (1890-1938) who was one of the tallest actors in history at a height of 7 feet 2 inches; he worked in various shows, including Barnum & Bailey and C.A. Wortham's World's Best Shows, and made an uncredited cameo in the Tod Browning cult classic Freaks. Fantastic vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 full-length photo of Aasen wearing a suit with top hat and posing next a considerably smaller gentleman, signed and inscribed in fountain pen to fellow sideshow entertainers, "To Daisy-Violet Hilton, John Aasen.” In fine condition, with some faint silvering, and pen trouble rendering the signature light in places. The Hilton sisters were English entertainers and conjoined twins (1908-1969) who were exhibited in Europe as children, toured the United States sideshow, vaudeville and American burlesque circuits in the 1920s and 1930s, and were best known for their film appearances in cult films Freaks and Chained for Life. Autographs of Aasen are virtually nonexistent, with this being the first we have ever offered.
