ALS, one page, 5 x 6, December 10, 1890. Written from Beacon Street, a letter to John S. Adams, in full: "I thank you very cordially for your lively verses, 'The Old Brick Oven.' We had one in the old kitchen in our house at Cambridge. How well I remember it, and the heating it up with brushwood, and the long shovel for taking out the pies or baked apples or whatever else it might hold! I missed it in the new kitchen and I regret its disappearance, as you do. So I am grateful to you for singing its praises." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope and an unsigned cabinet portrait of Holmes by the Conly Studio of Boston.
