TLS signed “Anne M. Lindbergh,” two pages, 8.5 x 11, April 18, 1973. Letter to Sister Mary Faith Schuster at Mount St. Scholastica, in part: "I deeply appreciate your invitation and especially the honor you suggest that I might accept an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Benedictine College on May 19. I have a very strong feeling of admiration for the Benedictines since in the last years I have frequently made informal visits to Regina Laudis Monastery in Bethlehem, Connecticut, not far from my home. However, in accepting awards, I find myself in a difficult position in regard to a policy I have been following for a number of years." She goes on to explain her policy of not accepting awards or speaking engagements—"I would have very little time at home for my own writing and no time to travel and keep in touch with my children and grandchildren"—and politely declines the invitation. In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
