Russian pianist, conductor and composer (1837-1910) who is best remembered for his work promoting musical nationalism and his encouragement of more famous Russian composers, most notably Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Attractive custom-bound softcover booklet containing various works from Russian composer Mily Balakirev, 10.75 x 12.75, signed and inscribed in Cyrillic on the inside of the first free end page in fountain pen by Balakirev, who adds a date of March 30, 1906. The booklet features a wide assortment of sheet music from Julius Heinrich Zimmermann and other notable music publishers, with the works consisting of sonatas, waltzes, toccatas, nocturnes, and more; the majority are original Balakirev pieces, with some transcriptions by Balakirev of works by Hector Berlioz, Sergei Taneyev, and others. In very good to fine condition, with repaired tears to the bottom of the signed page, wear and a vertical crease to the front cover, repairs to the ends of the spine, and foxing and staining to some inner pages, although the majority are clean and unaffected.
