Massachusetts delegate (1738-1796) and president to the Continental Congress, who was one of the signers of the United States Constitution. Uncommon ink signature, "N. Gorham,” on an off-white 1.75 x .75 slip, affixed to a slightly larger album page; the typed caption apparently mistook this signature of Nathaniel Gorham, Sr., as Nathaniel Gorham, Jr., who moved to Canandaigua around 1800. In fine condition, with show-through from some type on the reverse. Provenance: the collection of Charles Forbes, who purchased this piece in 1949.
