Description

Politician (1823-1878) most notable for being the 'boss' of Tammany Hall, the Democratic Party political machine that played a major role in the politics of 19th-century New York. Partly-printed DS, signed “W. M. Tweed,” one page, 8.5 x 6.75, October 17, 1868. City of New York Auditing Bureau voucher issued to A & G Brandon on "account of the appropriation of Lamps and Gas" for a total amount of $245. Signed at the conclusion in black ink by Tweed as street commissioner and Richard B. Connolly as comptroller. In fine condition.
