Description

TLS, one page, 7.5 x 9.5, House of Commons letterhead, May 23, 1962. Letter to Miss V. E. Watson, in part: "There is one thing about which I would like to reassure you: I think you can rest assured that Miss Morath is very highly thought of at the Ministry. The situation which you revealed to me has been constantly in my mind ever since we had a long talk about it, and I share your deep regrets that the Ministry will not over-ride the decisions of the local authority…I will see Kenneth Thompson and let him know the latest developments at Leyton County High School for Girls, but I do not anticipate that he will take any action." Thatcher makes a single correction to the text and adds the closing in her own hand: "Kind regards to yourself & Miss Rhett." In fine condition.
