Description

TLS from Vice President George Bush, one page, 7 x 9, The Vice President letterhead, April 6, 1987. Letter to Richard B. Liblong, in full: "I hate to be uncooperative, but I just don't think I have the time to do the kind of job that your work on President Ford would require. I have tremendously high regard for President Ford. Not only did he appoint me as Chief of the U.S. Liaison Office in China (1974-75), but he asked me to come back from China to run the CIA, which I did in 1976. President Ford was a healer, a good listener, and a man for whom I have unlimited respect. To do a shoddy job on 'recollections' would be unfair to him and unfair to your work. I hope you understand." Signed below in black ink, "George Bush," and just below in blue felt tip, "Very nice. Gerald R. Ford." In very fine condition.
