TLS, one page, 7 x 10, State of New York, Executive Chamber letterhead, June 5, 1931. Letter to Mrs. L. Havemeyer Butt, in full: "It has been very kind of you to assist in the financing of our plan to provide restorative treatment for the victims of infantile paralysis at cost at Warm Springs, Georgia. Because we experimented during the first stages and were careful to enlarge our plant only in proportion to immediate needs, our Trustees feel that the Foundation is established on a sound basis and doing its work at a minimum of expense. Of course many people come to us who can be greatly helped by the treatment but who are without funds and it is for them we are anxious to provide through the Patients' Aid Fund. If you could again assist in the maintenance of this fund during 1931, I can assure you that our Trustees would be greatly encouraged." Roosevelt has marked the letter "Personal" in his own hand. Matted and framed to an overall size of 14 x 17.25. In fine condition.
