Acknowledging a donation to the Concord Free Public Library

Partly-printed DS, signed “R. Waldo Emerson,” one page, 5.5 x 8, December 19, 1876. Document issued to writer William Leighton, Jr., in full: "The Library Committee gratefully acknowledge the receipt from you of two copies of the 'Sons of Godwin,' as a gift to the Concord Free Public Library." Neatly signed at the conclusion by Emerson as chairman of the committee. In fine condition, with trimmed edges. Leighton's work, The Sons of Godwin: A Tragedy, was published by J. B. Lippincott in 1877.
