Desirable autograph manuscript in French, signed in the title, "por Francois Mauriac," six pages, 8.25 x 10.5, no date but circa 1947. Mauriac's draft for an article about Charles de Gaulle entitled "Consequences d'une double faillite [Consequences of a Double Failure]." A reply to the speech held by de Gaulle in Rennes in which Mauriac criticizes the general for admitting France's impotence in world affairs after being defeated in the war. Heavily hand-corrected and revised throughout. In fine condition, with central vertical and horizontal folds, overall toning, and staple holes and creases to upper left.
