Blacklisted in Hollywood for his liberal beliefs amid the second Red Scare, the 39-year-old Garfield died of heart failure just two months after returning to the stage in a revival of Golden Boy. Two vintage glossy 8 x 10 photos of Garfield, including one Warner Bros. publicity still for Pride of the Marines and one studio portrait, each signed in fountain pen by the actor. In overall very good to fine condition, with scattered light creasing, and smudging to the signature on the portrait.
